Mayor of London's new Community Athletics Fund releases £400,000 additional investment for grassroots athletics


The Mayor of London has today announced £400,000 of new funding to help community organisations inspire Londoners to take up athletics on the back of this summer's IPC World Para Athletics Championships and IAAF World Championships.

Offering three tiers of funding covering small grants, large grants and disability-focussed projects, the fund is intended to support the Mayor's ambition for the Championships to bring people together and inspire Londoners to live healthier, more active lives.

Specifically, the fund aims to:

  • Bring people from different backgrounds together through athletics
  • Support organisations to run community events, focussed on athletics delivery and the World Championships
  • Inspire London's community organisations to deliver athletics-based activity
  • Increase the number of Londoners taking part in athletics-based activity
