London Sport and Chipotle’s partnership shines a light on the heroes of grassroots sport

26th October 2022

Over 18 months into London Sport’s multi-year partnership with Chipotle Mexican Grill, we’re reflecting on our partnership in action so far.

Chipotle is proud to back our mission of helping more Londoners lead longer, healthier and happier lives through sport and physical activity. Through this partnership, we are working together to champion grassroots sports across the capital, celebrating those who make sport and physical activity accessible for communities across London.

The Enhancing the Workforce Award in association with Chipotle

As nominations for the London Sport Awards open, our showcase event for the capital’s unsung sport and physical activity heroes, we are delighted to welcome Chipotle as the sponsor of the Enhancing the Workforce Award.

This is the second year in a row Chipotle has come on board to sponsor this category, which recognises those in the community sport workforce; whether it’s supporting, training, or mentoring coaches, volunteers, administrators, officials or any other part of grassroots sports.

Tigers Junior Football Club took home the coveted award last year, for their ‘Futures’ programme, which developed and trained more than 20 young people to become qualified referees.

Nominations for the Enhancing the Workforce Award can be submitted here.

Celebrating London’s Community Champions

Through our Chipotle Community Champion campaign, now in its second year, anyone in the grassroots sport sector can nominate a monthly sport and physical activity hero.

From coaches and administrators, to volunteers and players, London is full of people who put all their energy and passion into the physical activity and sport sector, and the Chipotle Community Champions campaign exists to celebrate these incredible individuals.

We checked in with one of our Chipotle Community Champions to find out what it means to be recognised for making a difference helping Londoners lead more active lives.

June’s Chipotle Community Champion Aaron Barnett-Clarke, Founder of Marron Fitness, a fitness group founded during the pandemic, said:

For me, it’s really important to be selected and recognised as someone that’s made a difference within London’s sport and physical activity industry, not just for myself but for the entire Maroon Fitness team and everyone that has taken part in our classes over the last two years.

I think it’s a real reassuring feeling to know that the light bulb moment that we had right at the beginning before all of this began actually meant something and it was as special as we thought it was.”

Chipotle’s European Marketing Manager, Rachael Weseloh, added:

“Chipotle is proud to be an integral part of Londoners’ active lives with its bowls, salads and burritos made fresh daily with real ingredients.

Through our partnership with London Sport, we are proud to recognise the individuals and organisations who embrace health and wellness through The Enhancing the Workforce Award and the Chipotle Community Champion campaign.”
