A record 130,000 girls and women took part in FA Girls’ Football Week in 2016 and it’s back again to inspire even more to get involved
The FA Girls’ Football Week 2017 is taking place 6-12 November and is an opportunity for providers to engage as many girls as possible in football. The campaign’s aim is to double the number of females playing football by 2020 and meeting this target could make a difference in England’s bid to host the next Women European Championship in 2021.
In 2016, a record 130,000 girls and women have took part in FA Girls’ Football Week and more than 1,000 organisations have signed up to run female-specific football sessions throughout the week this year. Schools, clubs, community groups and wider organisations have all agreed to put on football sessions tailored to increase participation of girls and females in football.
The week is also a chance for the players to have fun in a safe environment. All the organisers will be providing designated safeguarding officers and have a qualified first aider with appropriate equipment.
