New walking event, London Winter Wander, aims to beat social isolation through getting everybody involved in massive walking event.
We are delighted to be supporting our partners The London Winter Run for their brand new walking event The London Winter Wander.
The event takes place on Sunday 3 February, and is aiming to help beat isolation and inactivity by getting residents in the capital outside.
Walkers will start from several locations around London, before being led in groups to an incredible finish line by Trafalgar Square, where they can join the celebrations taking place around the 23,000 person Cancer Research UK London Winter Run 10k.
Each walk is expected to take between 60 and 90 minutes, with every finisher receiving a commemorative bespoke medal and be welcomed by the famous winter run hugging polar bears. Live music and photo opportunities will be waiting for walkers in the famous square.

The walk is organised by Human Race, who are responsible for the Cancer Research UK London Winter Run, as well as major events such as the ASICS Greater Manchester Marathon and the Windsor Triathlon.
Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race, said
“We are determined to ensure that our events have a positive impact on those who live and work locally. It’s our passion to get people active during the winter months, when it’s all too easy to hibernate, and this can lead to isolation and loneliness.
The physical and mental benefits to meeting up with others and walking are unquestionable, so it was a real no brainer for us to put this event on. Plus we know it’s going to be loads of fun for us and those taking part”.
A large number of Londoners over the age of 55 are eligible to take part for free, with affordable entry for everybody else.
