EXCITING NEWS!

LONDON SAFEGUARDING IN SPORT WEEK SESSIONS ANNOUNCED

SAFE & INCLUSIVE SPACES COMPETITION

As part of London Sport’s Safeguarding in Sport Week 2026, the only campaign of its kind in the capital, we’re giving children and young people the opportunity to share their views around what a safe and inclusive club looks and feels like to them.

There are no boundaries around the suggestions that can be put forward; we want young people to show their creativity and to think big!  Some of the responses might be unachievable in practice, but maybe there’s a seed of an idea that you as a club or group might be able to get behind or put into practice.

Young people might want to write down their ideas, draw them, record a voice note, or use any other ways to describe their ideal club, which is safe, fun and welcoming to all.

We at London Sport always encourage organisations working with children and young people to seek the ‘voice of the child’, and this is a great way for you to demonstrate to your participants, as well as their parents and carers, that you want to hear what they’ve got to say.  Your young people might have some great ideas and insight about how to encourage more people to get involved, or to keep them wanting to come back week after week.

For clubs and groups that encourage their young people to get involved in the competition, there is the chance to win a kit voucher, and we also have prizes up for grabs for the chosen winners themselves.

Competition open Wednesday 7th January, please encourage any entries to be sent to our Sport Welfare Officer team at [email protected] by closing day Saturday 14th February 2026.

About London Sport

London Sport is a not-for-profit organisation helping all Londoners live longer, healthier and happier lives through being active.

Part of a national network, we champion physical activity in London’s most deprived communities, sharing insights, influencing decision makers and allocating funding to effect change.

In some parts of the capital, people live 12 years longer in good health than others. With physical inactivity being one of the leading risk factors for preventable ill health, we want to help every Londoner find their way to move more.
