Meet the Team: Gemma Curtis appointed as new Strategic Lead – Physical Activity for Health

10th November 2022

London Sport is delighted to welcome Gemma Curtis as our new Strategic Lead – Physical Activity for Health. Gemma is an experienced healthcare leader with frontline clinical expertise and public health project experience.

As a qualified physiotherapist, Gemma has always been passionate about improving health and wellbeing through physical activity. She has a successful track record of delivering NHS and private sector service and population health improvement projects, as well as supporting, managing, and mentoring healthcare professionals to implement best practice.

This has driven evidence-based change resulting in improved care at a service provision level, as well as supported reducing health inequalities and removal of barriers to healthcare access for local communities in South, East and Central London Trusts where she’s worked.

As the new Health Lead at London Sport, Gemma plans to maximise physical activity opportunities, especially within healthcare spaces, working with our health partners to help achieve London Sport’s vision of a happier, healthier city.

Gemma enjoys many sports, including playing in a social netball league and Recurve Archery, for which she previously held a London County novice title.

Speaking on her new role, Gemma said:

“I’m excited to contribute towards all the great work being done at London Sport. This is a great opportunity for me to work amongst and learn from a multi-faceted team of individuals who share my love for sport and physical activity.”
