  • 10 winners recognised at London’s historic Guildhall.
  • The Awards have celebrated a decade of impact across grassroots sport and physical activity in London.
  • Athletes, ambassadors and community leaders gather to honour the capital’s unsung heroes.

LONDON, UK, 29 April 2026: The winners of the London Sport Awards 2026 were announced this evening at the ceremony’s 10th anniversary at the Guildhall.

The Awards, supported by the City of London Corporation, has a long tradition of bringing together individuals, organisations, volunteers and community leaders to celebrate those improving lives through sport and physical activity across the capital.

Hosted by double Olympian and London Sport Ambassador Montell Douglas, the evening included an on-stage Q&A with Team GB bobsledder Greg Cackett, whilst also welcoming a range of high-profile guests, such as content creator and founder of LDN Movements, Jamie Shawyer – the newest Ambassador of the More Ball Games campaign, alongside partners and leaders from across London’s sport sector.

Marking 10 years of the Awards, the event recognised the volunteers, clubs, charities, businesses and local authorities creating opportunities for Londoners to be more active, often in the face of limited space and resources.

This year saw almost 245 nominations submitted from across the capital, with 26 finalists shortlisted across 10 categories. Each nomination reflected the dedication, creativity and impact of grassroots sport in London’s communities.

One of the standout moments of the evening saw Sammy Taubman named Volunteer of the Year. Based in Finsbury Park, Sammy has spent over 15 years creating free, inclusive outdoor fitness opportunities for people aged 5 to 85. Through coaching, mentorship and a commitment to accessibility, he has helped build confidence, skills and long-term opportunities for hundreds across his community.

Sammy Taubman, Winner of the Volunteer of the Year Award, in Association with Sport Englandsaid:

“It’s incredibly special to be recognised, but this is really about the community. Seeing people grow in confidence, improve their health and support each other is what it’s all about”.

Emily Robinson, Chief Executive of London Sport, said:

“The London Sport Awards are about recognising the people and organisations making sport and physical activity accessible in every corner of our city.

This year’s winners show what’s possible when communities are given the opportunity to move more. Their work is creating healthier, more connected neighbourhoods across London.

One year on from launching our More Ball Games campaign, we’ve seen real progress in opening up spaces for young people to be active. But there is more to do, and the work of our winners shows exactly why this matters”.

Chris Hayward, Policy Chairman, City of London Corporationsaid:

“The London Sport Awards are a powerful reminder of the role that sport plays in strengthening communities and improving lives.

Supporting events like this is key to the City of London Corporation’s Sport Strategy vision – creating a vibrant, inclusive Square Mile where sport and culture thrive.”
