With less than a month to go until the London Sport Awards 2019, we’ll be focusing in on each of this year’s Award Categories to give you the inside track on each Award and the groups and people that are in the running.
The Sport Unites Award
The Sport Unites Award is a new category for the London Sport Awards 2019 and builds on the introduction of the London Together Award at last year’s ceremony. Developed alongside the Greater London Authority, the Sport Unites Award celebrates organisations that use sport or physical activity to promote social integration in London.
The Mayor of London
The Sport Unites Award has been developed in association with the Mayor of London. Last year, the Mayor launched his sport strategy for London – Sport for all of us – which outlines the Mayor’s long-term vision of making London the most socially integrated and active city in the world.
Sport Unites, the Mayor’s community sport investment programme, is key to the Mayor’s vision for sport across London. Through the three-year programme, the Mayor is investing £8.8m into community sport across the capital. This investment is guided by three main themes: sport for social integration; active Londoners; and workforce, sport tech and capacity building.

Who’s In The Hall of Fame?
The Sport Unites Award will be presented for the first time at the London Sport Awards 2019, but last year saw “LA LIGA” Female Recreational Football League walk away with the London Together Award – the precursor to this year’s category.
