Our Work in Enfield

Enfield faces significant health and inequality challenges that affect residents’ ability to be active and well:

  • Among the 20% most deprived local authorities in England
  • 58% of adults are overweight or obese, slightly above the London average
  • 41% of Year 6 children are overweight, higher than the London average
  • Nearly half of less active residents (47.8%) want to be active but face barriers

Project Overview

Our work focuses on areas with the greatest need, particularly Enfield’s Eastern Corridor:

  • Edmonton Green
  • Lower Edmonton
  • Upper Edmonton
  • Ponders End
  • Caterhatch

In each area, we are collaborating with a wide range of partners, including Enfield Council, Age UK, the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, CVS, and Edmonton Community Partnership, to drive sustainable, community-driven change.

Our work prioritises communities most affected by inactivity and together with partners we are working on confirming local priority audiences.

Our Approach

We are building a long-term, community-led model for change through four key phases:

Determining How We Work Together

Agreeing collaborative approaches with local partners and stakeholders.

Developing Governance Structures

Establishing frameworks to support decision-making, accountability, and shared leadership.

Gathering Insight

Engaging communities, collecting data, and understanding local needs and barriers.

Building a Shared Understanding

Creating a collective vision and shared priorities for action across the borough.
