London Sport

Sportivate

Sportivate was a National Lottery funded programme that offered young people across the country the chance to discover sports they would love, and to increase youth participation levels.

The Sportivate Project

Between 2011 and 2018 hundreds of clubs and projects were supported across all 33 London boroughs, providing up to eight weeks of free or subsidised access to a range of different sports to young people from all backgrounds.

By providing new funding to diverse and established clubs and projects working with young Londoners, Sportivate created new access pathways for children and young people throughout the capital and helped to foster new connections in a range of different communities.

Learnings from the project have been used to inform the development of new children and young people focused projects in London, including the current Satellite Clubs programme of work.

Resources and Learnings

Learn more about the Sportivate project as well as how we worked alongside Our Parks to support more young Londoners to enjoy the benefits of a physically active life.

Case Studies

As the project drew to a close, London Sport worked with a number of Sportivate funded clubs to capture learnings and guidance through a series of films that help to propose good practice and understand young people’s motivations to get active.
