As 2017 comes to an end, we take a look back at some of our highlights from this year, from celebrating the best of grassroots physical activity and sport through to launching the first ever incubator for sport technology in London.
January 2017 – London Sport Awards
Our annual event celebrating the best of the lifeblood of physical activity and sport in London, our London Sport Awards was held this year on 19 January at The O2. With over 400 people in attendance, awards were presented to Charlotte Evans for Coach of the Year, Double Jab Boxing Club for Club of the Year, London United for the Making it Easier Award among others. Read more here and make sure you snap up your tickets for our London Sport Awards 2018 on 8 March at Wembley here to join the next celebration.
March – #LDNMovesMe
Our first ever campaign #LDNMovesMe was launched in March designed to inspire Londoners to celebrate their own physical activity, from a weekend walk to a post-work football match. Launched alongside a range of campaign partners such as GoodGym and Parkour Generations, as well as a range of ambassadors such as Perri Shakes-Drayton and David Garrido, our campaign truly showed the world how unique our capital is to be active. #LDNMovesMe went on to be shortlisted for the Drum Network B2C Campaign of the Year and saw us work with Chocolate Films on their 1,000 Londoners project. September – House of Sport
We opened the doors to House of Sport alongside Sport England, London Marathon Events and a range of guest representatives from across physical activity and sport. By bringing together different organisations from across the sector under one roof we will collaborate, innovate, share expertise and more, driving transformation for London and beyond.
October – Sport Tech Hub
Earlier this year we welcomed the first cohort of tech innovators into House of Sport. Eighteen SportTech, FitTech and HealthTech start-ups formed the inaugural cohort of the London Sport backed Sport Tech Hub and a first of it’s kind. With focuses ranging from mass participation and active travel to social engagement, at-home fitness and immersive experiences, the start-ups involved will support the sectors efforts towards getting 1,000,000 Londoners more active by 2020. Read more about Sport Tech Hub here and follow Sport Tech Hub on Twitter to keep up to date with the latest news.
May we take this time to wish all our partners and the sector a happy Christmas and New Year and we very much look forward to working with you throughout 2017.
