Kate Hoey

Kate became the UK’s first female Sport Minister in 1999 and has since championed the power of sport for society. Kate is the Chair of our Board, Labour Member of Parliament for Vauxhall and was formerly the Mayor of London’s Commissioner for Sport. Her political interests are sport, foreign affairs, countryside and housing.

Richard is currently Director of Community Services at Westminster City Council and has worked within the sport and leisure sector for over 17 years, working for several private, public and charitable organisations.

Joyce is a Councillor of the London Borough of Redbridge, a trained primary school teacher and a long-serving school governor. Joyce has always had a strong passion and commitment for culture, sports and the arts.

Doug Taylor

Leader of Enfield Council and governor of Capel Manor College and the Pensions Policy Institute. Doug is also a panel member of the National Employment Savings Trust and a member of the Financial Conduct Authority Consumer Panel.

Sadie Mason

Sadie is Chief Executive Officer of Active Sussex. A former international basketball player of 13 years, Sadie has been awarded an MBE for her contribution to sports development spanning more than 20 years and including roles at Sport England and County Sports Partnership Network.

Kim has over 25 years’ experience working within local government and sport across London and the South East. Kim is a senior strategic leader and currently Group Director for Neighbourhoods and Housing for Hackney Council.

Shaun Dawson

Shaun is Chief Executive of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority and has extensive experience of running sports venues that balance commercial and community needs. Including three of London’s 2012 Olympic and Paralympic legacy venues; Lee Valley White Water Centre, Lee Valley VeloPark and the Lee Valley Hockey and Tennis Centre.

Derek Brewer

Derek is Chief Executive and Secretary of the Marylebone Cricket Club. Derek’s former career in banking and finance before moving into sport gave him the foundation to ensure Lord’s Cricket Ground remains a world-class sporting venue. In 2016, Derek was named Business Lead of the Year by the Nottingham City Business Club.

Dr Yvonne Doyle

Yvonne is the Regional Director of Public Health England for London and works across the capital to improve and protect the health of Londoners. She is the health advisor to the Mayor of London and technical advisor to the World Health Organisation.

Kelvin Walker

Kelvin is the current Director of Ealing Half Marathon CIC and is the Board’s most recent member, having joined in 2017. Former Finance Director at The Children’s Investment Fund Foundation, Kelvin brings a wealth of financial expertise to grassroots sport in London.

We work closely with Sport England and the Mayor of London’s sports division to ensure that our work is coordinated and compliments the efforts of the whole physical activity and sport sector in London.

In line with Sport England’s A Code for Sports Governance, we recruit and engage with people with appropriate diversity, independence skills, experience and knowledge to take effective decisions that further the organisations goals. We demonstrate a strong and public commitment to progressing towards achieving gender parity and greater diversity on our Board and we are pleased to say that our Board are 50% on each gender, exceeding Sport England’s target of a minimum of 30%.
