Data-driven and insight-led
At London Sport, we aim to become a data-driven and insight-led organisation to get more Londoners to become more active.
Demand for good quality data and insight is growing within the sport and physical activity sector and it is increasingly becoming an important go to resource to support a range of strategies, programmes and projects.
Data and insight can be used to support the identification and targeting of key population groups who may not be taking part in enough physical activity and sport, or to understand key trends influencing behaviours among London’s populations, as one of the few examples.
How we do this?
We do this by gathering, storing and analysing data to enable us to build robust evidence and provide recommendations to help improve the overall quality of decision making.
We build intelligence and insight by using various research approaches, such as:
- Delivering primary and secondary mixed methods research, and data visualisation
- Co-creating research projects with partners that are mutually beneficial
- Commissioning research from key research agencies, e.g. the East London Women and Physical Activity research
- Developing thought leadership pieces to influence and advocate, e.g. ‘Exploring the value of swimming and public pools’
