Harnessing the Power of Elite Sport Award – in association with the Mayor of London

28th February 2018

It’s just over a week until the third London Sport Awards take over Wembley Stadium, bringing the capital’s biggest celebration of grassroots sport to the nation’s home of football. Ahead of the big day, we’re checking in on our final Award category – the Harnessing the Power of Elite Sport Awards in association with the Mayor of London.

Unlike our other categories, the shortlist for the Harnessing the Power of Elite Sport Award comprises four incredible projects – each of which has used elite sport to have a positive impact on the city.

This Award is supported by the Mayor of London.

London continues to host a huge number and wide variety of high-profile sporting events – bringing some of the greatest athletes on the planet to the capital, and helping maintain London’s position as the home of world class sport. The Mayor is determined to provide genuine and meaningful opportunities for Londoners to engage with these events, through volunteering, opportunities for Londoners to access tickets, and, crucially, increasing opportunities for sports participation.
