LONDON, UK | We are now days away from the TCS London Marathon 2025, so the next up in our spotlight series of the inspiring individuals running in support of London Sport is Kristen. Her story is one of resilience, personal growth and the power of stepping outside of your comfort zone.
For Kristen, running the marathon is more than just a physical challenge – it’s a life-changing experience.
“I’ve followed the brilliant work of London Sport for many years and feel truly privileged to represent them” she says. “To take on this marathon as part of the London Sport team feels like a huge milestone – not just in fitness, but in life”.
Kristen’s journey into endurance events began not with running, but with walking. Over the past few years, she’s pushed herself through some seriously demanding treks, including a 106km challenge over two days on the Isle of Wight and a gruelling 100km across the Jurassic Coast with intense climbs. Each event brought a new set of physical and mental tests.
“Cardio has always been my nemesis” she admits. “So, when Jillian Moore suggested I consider the marathon, I jumped at the chance – even though it scared me.” That fear, however, has never been enough to stop her. In fact, it’s become part of the process.
“I often approach these events with a level of fear, but I’ve learned to push through it and come out the other side stronger” she says.
Now, as she nears her 60th birthday, Kristen feels more connected, more driven, and more relevant than ever. “It’s wonderful to be doing something like this at this stage in life. I’m proving to myself that there are no limits when it comes to growth”.
Kristen’s commitment to London Sport stems from a deep belief in our mission to break down barriers to physical activity. “Physical activity shouldn’t feel out of reach for anyone” she explains. “London Sport is creating opportunities for people from all walks of life to get active, and that’s something I really want to be part of”.
As the marathon draws near, Kristen is focused not just on the miles ahead but on the impact behind them. Every step she takes on race day will be in support of London Sport’s goal to make sport and physical activity accessible to all. “This marathon is about more than just me” she says. “It’s about showing what’s possible at any age and supporting an organisation that’s changing lives through movement”.
You can support Kristen, and the rest of the amazing London Sport team, by donating to her fundraising page or the London Sport JustGiving page. Every donation helps ensure more people across the capital can live healthier, more active lives.
