Nominations open for the Business Contribution Award, in association with the City of London Corporation

London Sport Awards return for its eighth edition in 2024 to celebrate the inspiring stories of those improving the lives of Londoners through grassroots sport and physical activity.

The City of London Corporation is sponsoring the Business Contribution Award for another year

London Sport is inviting nominations for businesses or commercial organisations that enable Londoners to keep active and lead healthier and more active lives.

1 December 2023, It’s time to celebrate London’s business heroes who have made significant and invaluable contributions to the grassroots sport physical activity sector as the London Sport Awards – the biggest celebration of grassroots sport and physical activity in the capital – returns on 21 March 2024!

The Awards are run by London Sport, a charity which helps Londoners lead longer, happier and healthier lives through being active. London Sport focuses effort on supporting children and adults in the most deprived communities who face the greatest challenges of inequality. With physical inactivity responsible for 1 in 6 premature deaths, the charity collaborates across the sector to help the least active Londoners find their way to move more.

Londoners are being encouraged to nominate the business or commercial organisation which have used bold and innovative approaches to making a tangible difference in local communities using the power of sport and physical activity. The deadline to nominate is 31 December 2023.

The Business Contribution Award, in association with the City of London Corporation, will recognise the contribution of commercial organisations, large and small, to community physical activity and sport, be it through practical support, advice, mentorship, collaboration and/or investment to enable community physical activity and sport to thrive in London.

Previous winners of the Business Contribution Award include UBS (2023, 2020) for their work to tackle poverty-related issues for children and young people; and Tideway (2021) for their work with London Youth Rowing.

Tanya Rabin, London Sport’s Director of Fundraising, Marketing & Communications, said:

“The Awards shine a spotlight on the incredible work done by individuals and organisations across the city to help Londoners lead happier, healthier and more active lives.

“We’ve seen some great examples over the years of how really meaningful commercial partnerships can make a transformational difference in changing lives.  This support from the business community is becoming increasingly important in helping tackle some big societal challenges – not least the cost of living crisis and increasing health inequalities. We can’t wait to celebrate those businesses who have been making a tangible in local communities across the capital using the power of sport and physical activity.”

City of London Corporation Policy Chairman, Chris Hayward, said:

We are delighted to be hosting the 2024 London Sport Awards.

It is vital that we recognise the contribution of the capital’s business community in developing grassroots sport.

“Sport is not only important to community physical and mental health. It is also central to our economic success and global soft power.
