In response to the covid-19 pandemic and on-going social distancing guidelines, the Mayor of London’s Community Sport Team funded a socially-distanced sport pilot in Hackney in Summer 2020.
Delivered by Badu Sports with support from Salaam Peace, the Socially Distanced Sport Pilot worked to test a model for group physical activity and sport while observing covid-19 government restrictions and Public Health England guidance.
As a result of the challenges faced by the community sport sector, this pilot was designed to support a safe return to grassroots participation.
From the project’s findings, the Mayor’s Community Sport Team have published a new guidance document.
This toolkit has been designed to support grassroots sport deliverers with advice and key learnings for socially-distanced community sport.
