Bringing together sport stars, policy makers, coaches, volunteers and Londoners from every part of the capital, this year’s London Sport Awards will take the best of grassroots sport to the home of football for a night of celebration, and a focus on the power of sport to change people’s lives
Wembley, which has capacity of 90,000 and is the home of England national football team, regularly hosts some of the biggest sporting events in the world including the UEFA Champions League Finals, major rugby league and rugby football fixtures, iconic boxing events including Anthony Joshua – Wladimir Klitschko, the NFL London Series, has more recently become the temporary home of Tottenham Hotspur FC, and will now host the capital’s biggest celebration of grassroots sport.
Looking Back
Last year’s London Sport Awards saw the ceremony take over indigo at The O2 with starts including Susie Rodgers and Lutalo Muhammad taking to the stage to join in the celebrations. A year earlier, London Sport hosted its inaugural annual awards at Lord’s Cricket Ground’s Nursery Pavilion alongside Barry McGuigan, and then-Olympic hopefuls Laurence Halsted and Sophie Bray, both of whom went on to represent Great Britain at the 2016 Olympic Games.
