23 projects to be supported through Social Integration Fund

2nd November 2017

23 projects have been selected to receive funding up to £3000 to support social integration at their sessions

In line with Mayoral commitments to strengthen the social fabric of London, the Social Integration Fund was set up as part of the ClubWorks programme to help bring people together through physical activity and sport. Projects supported through this fund aim to:

– Improve the health and wellbeing of isolated Londoners
– Improve trust and social bonds
– Widen social networks
– Improve measures of neighbourliness and develop social capital
– Unite people from London’s diverse communities together

Each of these potential outcomes will help build stronger communities where all Londoners can lead interconnected lives and play an active part in their city and the decisions that affect them.

Projects selected for the fund include a breadth of organisations including housing associations, faith groups, residential care homes and community groups.

Callum Whitton, Relationship Officer at London Sport, said: “We received some excellent applications that all demonstrated a real desire to help build a more integrated London.

“Successful projects will use physical activity and sport to tackle social isolation in the capital, uniting London’s diverse communities together. We will use these projects to learn more about social integration and share the learnings with the sector”
