ClubWorks Case Study – Kinetic Foundation

22nd May 2018

With the aim to use sport to attract and engage disadvantaged young people from South London, Kinetic Foundation inspires children and young people aged 5-18. They deliver a wide range of educational services and opportunities for them to be active, learn new skills and improve their employment opportunities so that they can participate in and integrate into society as independent, mature and responsible individuals.

Kinetic organises two sport teams – a football team and a netball club. They benefited from being involved in the ClubWorks programme by ‘Sporteducate’, a project looking to reduce unemployment, increase physical activity and broaden the horizons of participants.

James Fotheringham, the Chief Operating Officer of the Kinetic Foundation said: “Our Sporteducate Project organised at Coloma Convent Girls’ School has given young people the opportunity to exercise at a free football session whilst having a safe space to finish their homework before or after training. This project wouldn’t have been possible without the support and funding from the ClubWorks programme”.

ClubWorks is aimed at community clubs and organisations, youth clubs, as well as traditional sports clubs, delivering in a London Borough. The work of the ClubWorks programme simply wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Mayor of London. The support they provide allows us to help clubs and organisations to develop coaches and volunteers, attract new members and help secure funding for the future.

If you are a grassroots physical activity or sport club in London and are looking for free support to help grow your club then sign up to our bi-monthly ClubWorks newsletter here.
