The Royal Foundation operates an unparalleled sports apprenticeship programme for 16-24 year olds and are interested in hearing from any organisation looking to professionalise their assistant or casual coach workforce, engage with new and young diverse employees or become connected to an ever growing sports coaching network in the capital and around the UK.
Part of The Royal Foundation, Coach Core works with nearly 100 employers in over 40 different sports. By using sport as a hook, they have piloted the very first programme with Greenhouse Charity and recruited twenty 16-24’s that were not in education or employment and then re-deployed them back into their own communities to serve as relatable role models while they learnt.
The apprentices gained a number of qualifications and experiences across the 12 months whilst gaining personal support. This methodology of improving the apprentices’ prospects, enhancing the coaching impact and supporting employers accordingly so that they can work with a new and exciting young workforce remained a part of the programme to date. Last year alone, the Coach Core London apprentices assisted or led nearly 6000 coaching sessions that equated to over 61,000 coaching interactions all of which took place in communities and schools.
The ultimate goal of the programme is to affect true change with the learner groups to ensure they go into full time education or employment and provide a consistent, quality and fun coaching resource for the employer and the community. Through Core Coach, The Royal Foundation can offer:
- Seed funding to help with elements of salary and expenses
- Education, assessment and resources offered by their training provider
- A full time tutor dedicated exclusively to educating, mentoring and developing employees through the life of the programme
- Access to the Royal Foundation – Coach Core network
