London is the SportTech capital of Europe according to the latest European SportsTech Report and London Sport are determined to keep pushing the tech agenda in our bid to raise levels of activity.
Our initial strategic plan, Making London the Heart of the Sport Tech World, launched at the end of 2017 and this spring will see the capital host another major milestone towards delivering that vision for London.
On 25 April, we’ll be partnering with the team at Smash, one of the world’s largest SportTech events, to host Smash London as business leaders, investors and start-ups from across Britain and the Nordics explore opportunities for collaboration for physical activity in the digital age.
As well as covering a broad range of topics from Understanding the Consumer to Winning Strategies for Apps and Merging Fitness and Gaming, Smash London will welcome a whole host of fantastic speakers.
Confirmed speakers include: GB Olympic hockey star Kate Richardson-Walsh, Federico Winer (Head of Entertainment Industries, SAP), Minna Paajanen (City of Helsinki) Alison Savich (Strategic Lead for Data & Market Innovation, Sport England) and Sam Tolomei (Business Development Manager, Google Play).
Smash London is a unique opportunity to get to the heart of the latest trends in SportTech innovation and an amazing chance to be part of discussions involving the sport industry and some of the world’s biggest names in digital, data and technology.
Smash is an all-day event, hosted at the heart of the city’s tech-centre, Hackney House, with food provided and networking opportunities throughout. Make sure you book your ticket before they run out.
Elsewhere, we are delighted to be among the partners supporting PwC’s brand new ten-week scale programme aiming to accelerate the growth of some of world’s most innovative SportTech businesses.
Scale |Sport Tech is already accepting applications for the new programme which is aimed at developing businesses who have already progressed beyond the start-up phase, and London Sport are delighted to be joined by iSportConnect as partners of the programme.
Scale | Sport Tech will be based in London and will drive commercial opportunities for its incumbents by running tailored pitching events, masterclasses and individual bespoke counsel.
London Sport’s Specialist Advisor – Technology for Participation, Alex Zurita said:
“The past few years have been an enormously exciting time for the SportTech industry in London, and, in many ways, it was no surprise to see London hailed as the continent’s SportTech capital by the latest European SportsTech Report.
“I’m really pleased that London Sport are continuing to support the incredible innovation taking place; the opportunities for tech and sport to work together have truly never been stronger.
“With Smash London now just a few weeks away and an incredible line-up of speakers already confirmed, I am confident the next few months will show just how important it is that people at the top of both the tech and sport industries are making the most of the opportunities available to them.”
