London Sport & Decathlon

London Sport and Decathlon have renewed their partnership for a third year to continue in their endeavour to make sport accessible to more Londoners.

The London Sport/Decathlon Partnership

The partnership focuses on numerous initiatives aimed at bringing the joys of sport and physical activity to those in the most deprived communities, particularly young girls, who face the greatest challenges of inequality and barriers to participation.

One such initiative is London Sport’s ‘Space for Girls’ project. Decathlon provided a venue at its Surrey Quays store, equipment, and other resources during a 3-month programme which saw a large number of visits.  With safety being a key issue for many girls in London and a barrier to being active, the Space for Girls project supported by Decathlon and funded by Sport England’s Together Fund, looks to build positive active experiences for young women and ensure that they can take part in engaging sessions in a safe and welcoming environment.

Finally, Decathlon will be providing special discounts for our Opening Schools Facilities project, a grant scheme helping schools open their facilities outside of school hours for their pupils, local young people and the wider community.

Decathlon is inspired by the belief that the best sports products should be accessible to everyone. Browse their products here.

Decathlon x London Sport Awards

Decathlon are also sponsoring a new Environmental Award category at the 2024 London Sport Awards rewarding a group or individual for their contribution towards protecting the environment in which we all practice sport and physical activity.

"After a successful first year of working with London Sport and their Sport Tech Hub, we're so excited to be doubling down on our efforts to make sports more accessible to the people of London. I'm very proud that this year's partnership will have a particular focus on helping young women and children. I can't wait to see the impact this partnership will have on people's lives."

Decathlon x Opening School Facilities

London Sport is working with Decathlon to support the Opening School Facilities (OSF) programme by providing schools with special deals on sports equipment.

Decathlon is offering schools a range of sports products for various activities, including basketball and table tennis, and is committed to making sports accessible to everyone.
