New Get Active London Beta Site Launches

New platform will ultimately help make it easier for people to find physical activity and sporting opportunities through the power of open data

Get Active London Beta Site Launches

Get Active London exists to help Londoners to find physical activity and sport opportunities across the capital, at the right time and in the right way for them. Developed in partnership with physical activity providers throughout London, the platform is designed to be an easy-to-access way to help Londoners to do more physical activity, and support our target of getting 1,000,000 Londoners more active by 2020.

Get Active London is in a period of transition, moving away from a traditional manual method of uploading activities towards an approach that works with partners throughout the physical activity and sport sector to open up data and create a more tailored, targeted service that allows users to find different types of activity related to their requirements at different moments.

Get Active London Beta is part of a wider effort to demonstrate how a more collaborative approach to open data can help get more people into sport as a whole, with a vision of creating a service for Londoners that will make getting involved in sport as easy as booking a cinema ticket, or ordering a takeaway.

The new Get Active London Beta is a work in progress. In the coming months, London Sport and Openactive, the movement pioneering open data for physical activity and sport, will be working with more partners from across sport to open up data opportunities and create a bigger, better experience for Get Active London users.
