#LDNMovesMe
Celebrating physical activity in London
With the days becoming longer following the Spring clock change, London Sport has launched #LDNMovesMe – the organisation’s first ever campaign, designed to inspire Londoners to celebrate their own physical activity, from a weekend walk to a post-work football match.
To aid our target of getting 1,000,000 Londoners more physically active by 2020, #LDNMovesMe has been designed to inspire people to show the world what being active in London means to them, and to celebrate the diversity of the ways that Londoners choose to take part in physical activity and sport.
The campaign was launched alongside partners including Our Parks, Parkour Generations, GoodGym, Racefully, Metro Blind Sport and Disability Sports Coach as well as campaign ambassadors including Paralympian Susie Rodgers, Olympic sprinter Perri Shakes-Drayton, Sky Sports host David Garrido, Roy Smith of Metro Blind Sport, GoodGym Race Leader Khara Mills, Parkour Legend Francois ‘Forrest’ Mahop, Our Parks Founder Born Barikor and Too Fat To Run’s Julie Creffield.
Launching the campaign, Francois ‘Forrest’ Mahop said:
“Sports like Parkour that can take to the streets are vital in providing access to health and fitness activities for everyone, everywhere. Whatever activity means to you, the #LDNMovesMe campaign is there to motivate you to do more of what you love, and there’s a whole lot of people that will be around to celebrate with you when you do”
Born Barikor, Founder of Our Parks, said:
“As a campaign partner, we’re really looking forward to getting involved. Our members love the team building and fun side of fitness that Our Parks sessions bring, and the recognition of their success inspires them to push on further. With London Sport shining a light on physical activity in the city, we’ll step up and show how our members get out and about.”
Peter Fitzboydon, Chief Executive of London Sport, said:
“An active London is a thriving one and, through #LDNMovesMe, we aim to build a community of Londoners who are healthier, happier, and more inspired to participate. This campaign is all about celebrating that activity through social conversations – and, of course, shining a light on the importance of sport to our great city.”
We want to encourage all Londoners, and all groups and organisations that take part in physical activity in the capital, to share what #LDNMovesMe means to them. Through our campaign site, www.ldnmovesme.com, we will be sharing, showcasing and shining a light on what being active means to Londoners of every age, background and ability throughout spring and summer 2017.
