Safeguarding advice for organisations, coaches and individuals

The sporting community, like other areas of our society, recognises the need to protect children from individuals who may abuse their positions of responsibility. There are a number of steps that a sporting or leisure organisation can take to safeguard children and young people.

Below are some useful resources in this area:

Child protection in sport training programmes

There are various training programmes available to make sure you or your organisation can ensure the safety of young people and vulnerable adults. The CPSU promote and deliver the following courses:

  • Basic safeguarding courses and workshops
  • National Governing Bodies of Sport who deliver safeguarding courses
  • Distance learning programmes
  • Designated person and welfare officer training

London Sport organise Safeguarding and Protecting Children courses. For more information on the courses we are running visit the London Sport course booking page.

Visit the CPSU website for more information on these courses.
