London: Ready for the Nation’s Billion Step Challenge

March 16, 2018

Can the country move a billion steps in a single day? Can it do it every day for a week?

This weekend, Sport Relief is calling on people across the country to find what moves you, and to do as much of it as possible to kick off the Nation’s Billion Steps Challenge.

The Billion Steps Challenge is for sport lovers and casual exercisers alike. Whether your sport is football, speed walking, or anything in between, the challenge is as simple as getting off the sofa and moving. Whether it’s a new activity, or just getting part of your commute in by foot, logging your steps on the Sport Relief App between 17-23 March will make a major contribution to the Sport Relief mission.

Across London, London Sport will be encouraging everyone to get on their feet to support Sport Relief’s work around the world.

So whether you’re trying out your local sports club for the first time, taking a stroll along the Southbank, or getting on the parkrun trail at Alexandra Palace, make sure you get the Sport Relief App, and get involved.

The week will close out with the landmark Sport Relief Night on the BBC. If you want to learn more about how to get involved and organise fundraisers for Sport Relief this week, visit sportrelief.com/clubs and get your FREE Sport Relief event pack.

About London Sport

London Sport is a not-for-profit organisation helping all Londoners live longer, healthier and happier lives through being active.

Part of a national network, we champion physical activity in London’s most deprived communities, sharing insights, influencing decision makers and allocating funding to effect change.

In some parts of the capital, people live 12 years longer in good health than others. With physical inactivity being one of the leading risk factors for preventable ill health, we want to help every Londoner find their way to move more.
