London Impact Report reveals £3.3m directly invested into people and projects across the capital

Evaluation undertaken by London Sport’s insight team has highlighted the breadth of investment into physical activity and sport in London by London Sport, with almost £3.3m directly invested across the capital since 1 April 2015.

 

The data, collated from impact reports highlighting work in each of London’s boroughs, shows that a total of £3,288,556 has been invested into physical activity and sport by London Sport, enabling 29,168 Londoners to become more active in a single year. A detailed visualisation has been published through the London Sport Insight and Data Portal.

Alongside direct participant engagement, £63,722 was invested into coaches across the capital, with 434 individual coaches supported to aid in London Sport’s aim of creating a bigger and better workforce for physical activity and sport in London.

Other highlights identified include:

  • Partnership work between Exercise, Movement and Dance Partnership (EMDP) and London Sport saw at least one new after school dance club established in each of London’s boroughs, with plans to extend this work in 2016/17
  • Insight into cycling in the capital influenced investment from the Greater London Authority and British Cycling into new Go-Ride Coaches in five boroughs
  • £135,750 invested into local funded partners to assist 314 primary schools across the capital in improving the quality of PE delivered to young people in primary education
  • 277 clubs and organisations brought into the ClubWorks programme, each receiving a support package valued at £1,500
  • £970,000 invested into eight different organisations as part of the Mayor of London’s Participation Fund
