Major London sport provider goes online with open data

by Chris Scott

In a major boost to efforts focussed on making physical activity opportunities easier to find and access, all sessions delivered by free group exercise body, Our Parks, have been added to the open data supported Get Active London platform.

Delivered in parks throughout the capital, Our Parks activities focus on free group exercise classes, delivered by experienced instructors with an aim of making exercise opportunities available to people and communities, and creating a fitter, socially active community.

The addition of Our Parks sessions to the Get Active London beta site adds to a growing body of activity providers opening up data through the national OpenActive movement, including GoodGym, British Cycling and grassroots sport clubs working to promote their work through open data tool, Open Sessions.

Commenting on Our Parks' addition to Get Active London, Born Barikor, CEO and Founder of OurParks.org.uk, said:
"We are so proud to be one of the first organisations opening our API and making booking and finding sessions accessible to all Londoners! Get Active London is a positive step to changing the way we think and shifting our focus from competing against each other, to opening out the industry and giving every inactive person the opportunity to find activities near them."

Our Parks sessions, and other activity opportunities across the capital, can be explored in Get Active London's beta site, ahead of a full launch planned for later in 2017. Visit https://beta.getactivelondon.com to try it out.
